As the creative mind behind BORN 1986, Andrea Vuong has always had a passion for design and fashion for as long as she can remember. After completing a Diploma in Textile, Clothing and Footwear (2005), Andrea continued to further her studies into the highly selective RMIT Australia, Bachelor of Design in Fashion course, graduating in 2007. Her work experience during these years has included placements with independent Australian labels Ess Hoshika and Obus.

Established in 2009, BORN 1986 is a young and fresh label, offering a selection of very dressy casual pieces. BORN 1986 designs always incorporate the ideology between the interaction of the body and garment. Born and raised in Melbourne, Andrea is staying true to her roots, with all garments designed and produced locally.

Crimson Phoenix currently has the BORN 1986 second collection in store, launching Winter 2010 entitled “Soft Serve”. This range showcases a series of very feminine casual winter wear. Soft serve is a cheeky reminder of the hot summers that lingers over into the cold winter months. It’s all about comfort yet still having fun and feeling good. Key pieces for the season by BORN 1986 include the sequin scooped ice cream tees and tee dresses, as well as the waffle hoodie.
